THE Team

The Teaching Learning Enhancement Cell has the following full time members supported by the contributions of a team of faculty members from various Departments across the University. The full time members of the team are:

Prof Johny Joseph joined CHRIST (Deemed to be University) as a lecturer in the department of Botany. He initiated Center for Social Action, a voluntary organization at the campus with a mission of making every student, aware, sensitive, empathetic, and contributing to sustainable changes in the society. Served as its director from 1999 till 2015. Currently he is serving as the Controller of Examinations at the University and also as the Director of Student Council of the University. Also initiated Teaching Learning Enhancement cell in the year 2015 and continues to associate with it as a member.

Dr Suparna Majumdar Kar has a PhD in Sociology and has been working in Higher Education for more than 15 years. She has been working with the Teaching Learning Enhancement Cell at CHRIST since 2015 and has worked extensively on the teaching, learning, and assessment practices across the University. One of the areas that the team is currently working on is the constructive alignment of the curriculum in keeping with the University’s emphasis on holistic development.

Dr Sweta Mukherjee has a PhD in English Language Education and has been working in Higher Education for 5 years. She has been working with the Teaching Learning Enhancement Cell at CHRIST since 2015 and has worked extensively on the teaching, learning, and assessment practices across the University. One of the areas that the team is currently working on is the constructive alignment of the curriculum in keeping with the University’s emphasis on holistic development.

The extended team for TLEC consists of the following members who have been drawn from various departments across the University. They offer their expertise in training and support and also participate in the review process undertaken by the Cell.

The extended team for 2019-20 consists of the following members:

Anson KJ is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Commerce. He is currently pursuing Phd in the area of Behavioural Finance. He has a keen interest in interdisciplinary research and has worked in the areas of Finance, Education, Hospitality and Tourism. He was a part of the university study team sent to Hong-Kong to assess pedagogy, learning styles and innovative curriculum. He has been a part of the Teaching Learning and Evaluation Cell from the year 2018 and has been instrumental in initiating various innovative practices at the department of commerce to name a few such as the entry assessment test for mapping average and advanced learners, critical curriculum student feedback, assessment for curriculum review and many others.

Dr Geetanjala Purswani has completed her PhD from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. She has done her Mphil and MCom from University of Kota and graduation from Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University, Kota. She has participated in various conferences and has different publications to her credit. Her area of specialization is Accounts and Finance. She is part of extended team of TLEC providing her services to Deanery of Commerce and Management.

Dr Pukhraj Agarwal, has been working with the School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) since 2014. He completed his doctorate from University of North Bengal in 2018. He has been a member of the TLEC team for the past two years.He has closely worked with TLEC to organize workshops and induction and orientation programmes for faculty members at CHRIST. He has also conducted hands on training on drafting course plans and reviewing them for School of Law.

Dr. Rameesha Kalra started her career as an Assistant Manager in ICICI Bank where she spent 2.5 years and has now been associated with teaching for more than 11 years. She holds a Master’s degree in Business administration (MBA Finance & HR) from FMS, Ajmer University and was a topper of the MBA program. She is also UGC (NET) qualified. She completed her PhD from Banasthali Vidyapith (Rajasthan) on "Performance evaluation of banking industry using Balanced Scorecard Approach". She has to her credit several research papers in journals of repute and has participated in various conferences at National level. She is a person who is positive about every aspect of life and is passionate about learning and development.

Dr RL Tavis Ashton-Bell completed his PhD from Monash University, Melbourne, Australia; specialising in Higher Education Music Teacher Education with a focus on explaining music structure through applied mathematics. He worked as a Unit Coordinator in the Faculty of Arts at Monash before joining CHRIST (Deemed to be University) as an Assistant Professor. He is now the Coordinator of the Department of Western Music at CHRIST (Deemed to be University). He has been invited to lecture at international conferences for Psychology, Discrete Mathematics, and Performing Arts; and has given workshops on learner-centred development and objective-based curriculum design for Arts programs in Bangalore, Shillong and Melbourne, Australia.

Dr Suparna Naresh has been teaching for close to 26 years at various colleges in Bangalore, India. Her present stint at CHRIST (Deemed to be University) spans nearly 12 years. Dr Naresh holds a PhD in Mass Communication and Journalism from Bangalore University. She has co-authored two text-books. Dr Naresh has several research articles to her credit.

Sushanth.G has been part of the Faculty of Engineering, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) since 2015. He has 9 years experience and was previously associated with Samsung Research Institute India, Bangalore for 4 years. He has a Masters in Digital communication and is currently pursuing PhD at Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi. He has two patents granted and 3 patents filed and published. He has been working on outcome based education and its effective implementation in higher education. He has worked extensively on the NBA (National Board of Accreditation) process and has been part of TLEC at CHRIST (Deemed to be University) and has conducted workshops on teaching pedagogies for faculty members.

Ms. Ujwala started her career as a practising advocate working in Bangalore Civil Courts and Karnataka High Court and discovered her passion of teaching after completing her masters in law from NALSAR University of Law specializing in Intellectual Property Law. She has been teaching procedural laws, law of contract, property law to law students since 2013. She joined as an Assistant Professor in CHRIST (Deemed to be University) in 2015 and is a part of the extended team of TLEC with School of Law since 2019.
